Dua Lipa (born in London) is an English singer and songwriter who was born on 22 August 1995 in London United Kingdom. Her debut self-titled album debuted in 2017, after she signed with Warner Bros Records. The album peaked at the top spot at No. 3 on the U.K. Charts. The album had eight singles that were released, including Be the One I.D.G.A.F. and New Rules. In the United States it peaked as sixth in the charts. Lipa won her Brit Awards in the year 2018 for British Female Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act. Her album was certified platinum across several countries around the world. She is the daughter of Kosovo Albanians Anesa Laxha and Dukagjin lipa. She is of Bosnian origin through the maternal grandparents of her. It is also possible to trace back her ancestors in Peja, the Kosovo city of Peja. Lipa's two grandfathers both were historians. Gjin along with Rina are her siblings. Lipa's father, the guitar player and singer in the Kosovan band Oda was a major influence on her music. At home, her father played music by David Bowie Bob Dylan Radiohead Stereophonics The Police Stereophonics. Lipa began to sing when she was just five years old. At the age of nine she learned how to sing. Lipa performed Beautiful by Christina Aguilera and If I'm Not Got You By Alicia Keys on YouTube. Lipa was offered a recording contract by Warner Bros. Records in 2014. The singer released her debut single New Love in August of 2015.
