The shadows she observed on the lawn prompted her to spend months developing a technique, which does not, however, paint the selected object onto canvas. When the objects are alive or perishable, such as fruit and even people, they become a painting of their own. The style that Alexa Meade paints has an ephemeral quality, and all that remains of Alexa Meade's art is her photographs. Both photographic and painting methods are tightly interwoven that the end result is nothing but a two-dimensional flat space which is able to achieve trompe-l'oeil. In this, the third dimension is only visible within certain places, such as near the eyes, or near hair. Meade often integrates her painted model into the three-dimensional surroundings around it that allows her to work within the world of their own. This way, the line between photography and painting is dissolved.
