thomas sadoski-2His award-winning stage career started by working as an understudy of Mark Ruffalo, Mark Rosenthal and Mark Rosenthal in an Off-Broadway production of Kenneth Linergan's This is Our Youth at Second Stage Theatre. This was his first of many productions by the company that is based in New York. He has performed in many Off-Broadway as well as Broadway productions. He also was a part of several productions in regional theaters. Together with Alison Pill, he played the role of Greg in Neil LaBute's The play Reasons to be Pretty at the MCC Theatre. After receiving praise for its critically acclaimed the play's sold-out run off Broadway the play was transferred to Broadway in April of 2009, where it received three Tony Award nominations (Best Actor: Sadoski, Best Actress: Marin Ireland, Best Play) as well as three Drama Desk Award nominations (Best Actor: Sadoski, Best Director: Terry Kinney and Best Play), two Outer Critics Circle Award nominations (Best Actor: Sadoski, Best New Play),and three Drama League Award nominations (Best Play, Distinguished Performance Awards: Sadoski and Ireland). 6 Neil LaBute credits Sadoski for his role in bringing about the critically acclaimed changes in the tone of reasons to be beautiful from his earlier plays by saying: "His own thoughtfulness and good heart helped me to not rely on anything that I had done prior to that. My plays always finish in a dark space. I've always believed that that was true, that there was always a shade of gray. But the actor helped me recognize other colors that were in the play." He was the original Trip Wyeth character in Jon Robin Baitz's Other Desert Cities, for which he received an Obie Award (and a Lucille Lortel Award). After a sold-out Off-Broadway performance in November the show was moved to Broadway and was given the award of Outstanding New Off-Broadway performance by the Outer Critics Circle. Sadoski, Ben Stiller, Edie Failco Jennifer Jason Leigh, Alison Pill and Alison Pill were also seen on Broadway in John Guare's House of Blue Leaves.
